The Wasinga Project was set up in 2012 as an experiment in self-reliant and co-created community. Inspired by global festival culture from the Hay Festival, Tallberg, TED, Rainbow Gatherings, to Burning Man, our aim is to provide a space for learning, growth, inspiration, awareness and fun. We are, in essence, a cross-generational and cross-cultural tribe coming together to be and to learn from each other through a shared immersive experience.

Wasingi are amazing doers, thinkers, achievers in their own rights across a broad range of professions. We do not broadcast a list of attendees, for Wasinga is about our community, where we can be ourselves amongst the forest of our ancestors. The Wasingi who washes up the dishes, is as important as the speaker who can sell out a stadium – we are all in this together, to learn together, to transform together and to remember who we are.

We aim to counteract the commercial aspect and service economy which has crept into so many festivals and gatherings through basing ourselves on participation and a gift economy. What we experience is what we co-create. We leave no trace and respect the sacred land we are blessed to inhabit.

The Wasinga Project is a Community Interest Company. This means we are a social enterprise where any profits are re-invested for the benefit of the community..
